Excellence in Academic Leadership and Institutional Stewardship

This award celebrates faculty leadership in shared governance and academic planning that strengthens collaboration, trust, transparency, and the long-term vitality of the institution.  The recipient of the faculty enhancement award for Academic Leadership and Institutional Stewardship is Dr. Andrew Venezia.

When the Faculty Senate conducted a review of committee membership in 2024–2025, they found that Professor Venezia served on more committees than any other member of the faculty (noting that he served ten standing committees which met at least monthly). The sheer number of his commitments is only part of the story, as of those ten committees, he currently chairs the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee and the Institutional Review Board, along with co-chairing the Standard 7 subcommittee on shared governance for the University's Middle States Self-Study.  As FSCC Chair alone, he convenes biweekly meetings and works daily with various Dean’s Offices, the Registrar, the Provost, and faculty across all three colleges. One of his nominators, Faculty Senate President Teresa Grettano, writes that she regularly relies on his counsel to shape the Senate's approach to its work.
